And so the story goes...

Right after school yesterday, my roomate and I went to get some numbers of apartments. These apartments were a little farther off, so we took a bus for about 5 minutes. We got the numbers and then walked to McDonald's for a healthy meal para llevar (we have no food at home and neither of us had ganas to cook or go to the store). We decided to take a taxi home because it was quickly getting dark. We hailded the taxi and made it home. After we were in our apartment, Kristy realized that she left her bag in the taxi (with her school books, grades, camera, and wallet). She franticlly ran down-stairs to see if, maybe, the taxi driver had returned. After waiting about 20 minutes, she came back upstairs and we searched the apartment, again. She eventually went back outside. I stayed inside and made a few phone calls to see if we could find a missing info number or something. (Both of us in frantic prayer during all this). I found nothing, so I did what I usually do in an emergeny...I called Ann Boyter. Ann said, "Just pray. We've lost stuff before and it's been returned after praying".

After a little bit, the phone rang and it was Sara. She is the lady who lives in the apartment building where we were hoping to move into. Sara asked for Kristy and I told her that she was out side because there was a problem. Sara knew exaclty what the problem was and that the taxi guy was going to return in 20 minutes. Now, keep in mind that this whole conversation is in Spanish. Kristy runs back into the apartment and I tell her what I just found out. She looks at me like I'm crazy and asks, "How does Sara know?" I hand her the phone and she talks to Sara and then runs downstairs.

Turns out that the taxi driver had found the land-lady's (from the apartment we want to rent) phone number in the bag. The land-lady then called Sara and then called us. After all, how many white girls does a taxi-driver carry around in a day? The bag was returned with everything still in it!!! Gracias a Dios!! Now Kristy and I are going to eat tacos with Sara tomorrow night. Pleaes keep Sara and the land-lady (Virginia) in your prayers. We know that we have crossed paths with them for a reason. Sara is a very kind, generous lady but she does not know the Lord. Pray for her salvation. Pray that I would be able to understand and participate in the conversaton over tacos al pastor. God is up to something and I am privileged to stand back and let Him work.Sometimes we don't understand the steps God leads us thorugh, but I am so glad that He sees the pig picture when all I see is a snap shot! It's also nice to know that He cares about the little details of our lives.

"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen." Ephesians 3:20-21

Oh, and on another not, it's time for all those halloween asscoitated holdiays like day of the dead (where they prepare a feast of their deceased relatives favorite thing and invite their spirits to visit), All Saints Day, etc. Last night while we were waiting on the taxi, kids were trick-or-treating down the streets, mostly dressed in creepy costumes. Pray for the people of Mexico.

Craziness...

So, the apartment thing didn't come through again. The contract is a little wack and the lawyer won't budge. If the lawyer treats others as he has us, no one will be living in that apartment any time soon. We all (aka everyone involved)really feel that he is a crook and taking the land-lady for all she has. We did call the current land-lords and ask them for a one month extension. The most frustrating thing is that we were all packed up and ready to move. We really have no idea what to do. Please be in prayer for us. We have some ideas as to why the Lord would allow this to happen and we know that God is fathiful and sees the big picture (which something that we are constantly reminding ourselves). Maybe He has something better in store :)

We still need a place to live in by the end of the month. T Minus 29 days and counting...
