"Tramp for the Lord"

Why do some women continue to go back to their abusers, knowing that they will again be abused? The cycle of abuse stinks. Abusers stink. Needless to say, my heart is broken for some of our former guests. Please pray for their safety.

One of the neat things about where I live is that there are all kinds of books at my disposal. The other day I started reading "Tramp for the Lord" which is about the life of Corrie ten Boom after her realse from a German concentration camp near the end of WWII. She fascinates me for several reason:

~She was put into a concentration camp b/c she and her family were hiding some of their Jewish friends in their home. In a neat way this connects my earthly heritage (My mother's family) with my heavenly heritage in Christ!

~She was never married.

~Her story is that of a real person. She talks about her weakness and struggles. .

~She is an example of how God takes care of His children and uses those tough times to spread His word and to grow us closer to Him.

~She lived her life going where the Lord lead. At times she had no money. At times she new noone in the city she felt led to go to for a given time. At times she didn't know what her next step would be.

~This part of the story takes place in her 50s to her 80s.So, there's no room for excuses for those of in our 20s.

Yesterday we went to OK City to the site of the bombing. It just so happened to be the 10th Anniversary of the incident. The memorial is heart wrenching. It took you from the morning of the ordeal to the progress afterwards. I was left speechless…to think that 2 men could conspire to do such damage.

Also, I found out my Bible study/group name. It’s Southern Praline…not quite sure how I’m going to decorate but I’m sure I’ll come up with something…I have a few ideas. Any suggestions?

As far as DSV goes…tons of drama. I don’t feel like elaborating right now.

That’s all folks!

We can work so hard to get our lives back on track, trusting God to pull us through, and within an instant our lives are messed up. Our decisions do have consequences good and bad. One person gets a new home the other looses her child to DHS. Both consequences based on decions that each one made. Also, you can't make decisions for others. You can tell them what you think is best but you can't make up their minds for them. Gosh does this stink, I hate watching these women fall back into their old habits. However, it is such a blessing to watch the few who succeed.

I just have to say that I'm in love!...

Too bad they're all under the age of 3! I am going to miss them so much. It's crazy to think that I will head back to Nashville in less than a month. Where has the time gone?

So, here are a few questions derived from last nights Bible study...is there a difference between happiness and joy? Does God want us to be happy? (I'll share what I think later).

Well, the weather is soooo amazing! I think it's time for a jog!!!!

Word up!

First off- I want to apologize for any bad grammar.I must admit, I usually don't spell or grammar check things...

I need to be a better, more sincere listener. Yup, that's what God continues to teach me.

You Know You're From Nashville When...

The word "snow" means a week off from school and maybe even work.

To you Paris is near Waverly and Athens and Rome are in Georgia.

You stop your car for ambulances, fire trucks and hearses.

You take down your Christmas tree before January first.

Someone within hearing distance is singing or humming.

There's a musical instrument somewhere in the house.

You don't do things without "fixin" to do them first.

You judge things as "alright", "fine" or "right fine".

Your food has beans or Tobasco in it.

You know what a T-Rac is.

You "luck up" and not "luck out".

Drivers stop before they turn.

Someone you know has written a song.

You own the boots but can't ride a horse.

No one around you is a native Nashvillian either.

You run red lights so you won't be hit from behind.

Fast food is faster inside than at the drive-up window.

To you a well-trained dog stays in the bed of the truck.

Half of the people at work know someone in entertainment.

Strangers ask if you're doin alright, and friends ask what's goin on.

You ignore country stars but dance and holler in front of football players.

You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from Nashville.

I miss driving around Nashville because I don't have to think about where I'm going.
